We all know that Hinduism is one of the most followed religion sin India. In this religion, it is strongly believed that if a person wishes to attain moksha, he should go on a char dham yatra with divine and pure thoughts at least once in a lifetime. Chardham Yatra is one of the most spiritual journeys that people undertake so that they can get an opportunity to feel the positive and holy vibes of the presence of God by visiting the four most treasured dwellings of the Almighty.

Considered to be extremely pious, char dham tour shave been popular among Hindus and people of other religions also since the ancient time. With an attempt to revive the Hindu religion, in the 8th century, there lived a great Hindu reformer named Adi Shankaracharya who inaugurated the char dham yatra. He invented the term 'Char Dham' i.e. Char means four and Dham means sites and cheered every Hindu to take a Chardham Pilgrimage Tour to achieve salvation in life. Since that time, Hindus have been taking this holy trip to the four abodes of God in the most celestial places namely Badrinath, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Yamunotri. All the four places are located in the Himalayan region of Garhwal, which is renowned as the tranquil land where most saints and sages found consolation in the prehistoric times. The yearly visitor season of char dham begins in India from April and stays till October and even till November.

Among the four holy sites, Badrinath is considered to be the most auspicious of all. This is because Hindus believe that it is the place where the great Shankaracharya attained freedom from incarnation. The Badrinath chardham temple in India is visited by many pilgrims and devotees of God Vishnu, who is the main idol of worship here. The other beautiful destination of this tour is Kedarnath. It is again a very beautiful place where the purity of God can be felt in the heart. Here, Lord Shiva is worshiped as the main idol. Yamunotri, which is another destination of a char dham yatra, is considered to be a divine place for the fact that it is a source land of the River Yamuna. Similarly, Gangotri is also a significant char dham destination which is the source place of River Ganga.
